Here’s what they said:
What attracted you to a career with Berwick Partners?
Amy Parkinson: It is the only business I saw that was able to credibly address our clients’ biggest problems - attracting future leadership talent. By working as part of the Odgers Berndtson family, with the calibre of the network available to us, and operating with the same level of quality, diligence and expertise, we are able to genuinely partner with our clients to deliver exceptional candidates.
Claire Stewart: The partnership model Berwick Partners adopts with all of its clients really attracted me. Being provided with the time and resources to become a true expert in your industry; you can really add value.
Tom Graham: Berwick/Odgers’ reputation in the market is incredible. I wanted to move away from contingent recruitment into search, and the opportunity to join an organisation with a reputation as strong as this was too good to turn down.
Yana Zusman: The excellent market reputation, and the expertise and personal qualities of the people I met during the interview process.
What appealed / caught your attention whilst going through the interview process?
CS: The experience and tenure of those I met within Berwick Partners was very encouraging. Their clear loyalty and passion for the business makes it a place you can see yourself working for, and furthermore map out a long-term career with.
YZ: A very strong focus on preserving the company culture and a clear vision of the company’s development strategies.
TG: The interview was thorough and to me suggested that there was a clear idea of who was or wasn’t right for the business. Everyone was extremely professional and was able to articulate the business clearly. It felt like there was a definite vision and culture within the organisation.
AP: I met with some hugely inspirational people that were happy and successful in their roles.
What has been the most pleasant surprise since starting at Berwick?
AP: Everything that I was promised was actually delivered! After eleven years in this industry you can become a tad cynical, so it was refreshing when I was told to take my time, learn and really think about how I wanted to approach things. Oh, and having an amazing PA. She makes me so much more efficient!
CS: The culture was a real surprise. Whilst there are numerous practices within the business and many offices, the Berwick Partners and wider Odgers team have an inclusive team spirit with an active social calendar.
TG: The on-boarding process has been the most thorough of my career and indicates that there is a real unity within the business, where people want to help you integrate and succeed.
YZ:The level of internal collaboration.
How is it different from your previous place of employment?
TG: A lot more mature, a lot more strategic and a lot more trusting. You also have the tools at your disposal to succeed.
YZ: A completely different business model. Berwick has a very mature culture and a strong focus on people.
AP: I wanted more freedom, to be seen as a trusted advisor and to know that what I was doing would make a difference to my clients. By joining Berwick I’ve been able to do that.
CS: Berwick really has a very strong USP within the marketplace. There is a strong track record which is incredibly valuable with clients, real expertise within the teams, and real rigour when it comes to providing an industry leading service
Which three words would you use to describe the Berwick culture?
