North West CFO Dinner – Overcoming Obstacles to Profitable Growth in Private Business

Published: 18 July 2013

On Thursday 13th and 27th June 2013 Berwick Partners hosted dinners for CFOs of privately held businesses, including both family and private equity owned.

The aim of the events was to enable the CFOs to benefit from the rare opportunity of exchanging perspectives and best practice experiences within their specific privately-owned corporate structures.  It also allowed them to interact with their regional peer group in an informal, confidential and enjoyable environment.  The dinner was held in the newly refurbished private dining room of Restaurant Bar Grill in Manchester.

We had a lively discussion regarding how a broad range of obstacles to profitable growth could be overcome.  Issues such as succession planning, technology, internationalisation, taxation, raising funds, banking and managing shareholders held centre stage.  We also discussed the fundamental differences in the challenges faced by CFOs in private and public businesses.

We will be holding a number of events for financial leaders over the forthcoming months.
