Noteworthy appointments over the last quarter serve to demonstrate the breadth and range of work that we have been busy delivering.
Cherwell District Council - Graven Hill Village Development Company, Managing Director
Graven Hill Village Development Company is one of the most eagerly observed housing programmes anywhere in the UK given its unique focus on creating a self-build community. Following an international search that took in both the public and private sectors Philip Singleton, a trained architect and former director of regeneration at LB Newham and most recently Managing Director of Millennium Point in Birmingham was appointed.
Cheshire East - Director of Growth and Regeneration, Director of Planning and Sustainable Development
Cheshire East has one of the most ambitious growth agendas anywhere in the UK, coupled with some of the most enviable resources and assets in the North West. It was fantastic to work with Mike Suarez and the team to find candidates that had the commercial and technical skills to help Cheshire East capitalise on this agenda. Having carried out a national search we were able to help them appoint two first class candidates with considerable regeneration and commercial experience. Andrew Round formerly of Birmingham City Council, where he was instrumental in the Big City Plan and HS2 agenda, and Sean Hannaby who had played a central role in the strategic planning of Cardiff.
Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council - Corporate Director (Place Directorate)

Ubico are arguably one of the most successful Teckal companies of recent years. A wholly owned public sector organistion they are currently delivering world class services on behalf of a number of South West councils, and have blended commercial acumen, with first class and customer orientated public services. Appointing to a newly created Commercial Director role, meant looking at candidates who had straddled both the public and private sector and could not only adapt but also add value to the organisation. A successful search only process led to a successful appointment being made in the autumn.
Staffordshire County Council – Director for Health & Care
It was hugely satisfying to be able to help Staffordshire again, this time to appoint a Director for Health & Care to work across broader health and care economy of the County. Working with Public Health England and the Faculty of Public Health added another and positive dimension to the assignment.
Dr Richard Harling, a former A&E doctor, takes up this newly created role in the Spring. Currently Director of Adult Services & Health at Worcestershire County Council, Richard will lead on working with partners on the care of adults and public health of both children and adults.
Staffordshire County Council Leader Philip Atkins, said: "How we help our growing ageing population in Staffordshire is one of the biggest challenges facing our county, so it is vital that we focus even more on supporting people to be well, to keep well and hopefully to get well as quickly as possible.
