Berwick Partners, Odgers Berndtson and Odgers Interim hosted this year’s Annual Northern Healthcare Dinner on Thursday 4th February 2016 at the Mansion in Leeds. For the past three years this has been a popular event, providing a great opportunity for NHS leaders to come together. With Chairs, NEDs CEO and board members for NHS Acute, Community, Mental Health and CCG the evening was full of lively debate and discussion around improving healthcare.
Guest speaker for the evening was Angela Spindler, CEO of N Brown Group. With an impressive background in the commercial retail sector Angela joined to share her experiences of guiding businesses into new paradigms of thought. Some of the themes Angela discussed included; the challenges of implementing long-term transformational change while continuing to move forward and deliver short-term objectives; the key role of the HR Director when implementing new technology in a business to ensure that it is fully supported through the people agenda; the significance of communication to keep the workforce engaged throughout periods of significant change; and the importance of being committed to delivering the long-term strategy, especially when it creates short- challenges. Angela’s talk was followed by a question and answer session allowing the audience to probe further into this fascinating subject.
Angela Spindler was insightful and entertaining, and very well received by all attendees, who were interested in the parallels she drew between her experiences in the commercial sector and their own within the NHS.
