Berwick Partners & Odgers Berndtson this week hosted an audience with Shabana Mahmood, Shadow Exchequer Secretary, Labour. Ms Mahmood was speaking with CFOs and Global Heads of Tax about Labour's tax policy in light of a general election in 2015 and was introduced by Baroness Virgina Bottomley, Chair of the Odgers Berndtson Board Practice. In a lively and up front presentation, Ms Mahmood described in detail the four pillars of her party’s proposed reforms of business taxation: promoting long term investment, support for enterprise and innovation, simplicity, predictability and a commitment to fairness. These provoked a number of thoughtful and erudite perspectives and questions from the prominent business leaders in attendance which were responded to with great poise and understanding by Ms Mahmood. As co-hosts Berwick Partners were thrilled to have Ms Mahmood in attendance at such a successful event.
