Each year, in good economic times and bad, there is a seasonal shift in recruitment activity in September. There is a slightly lesser one in January too. The rationale is simple; the holiday season is over and it immediately feels like a stretch through to the ‘next’ one. Regular as clockwork people open their minds to change just a little more than they did before their vacation. The lure of a ‘new view’ is tempting for many.
Hiring companies and recruiters alike are wise to this and gear plans accordingly to capture the fresh wave of appetite for a new role. What’s the effect? As the market gets hotter, the competition gets tougher; everyone ups their game.
So what can you do? The following pointers link to some articles from the Berwick Partners Blog which might help you prepare to land your next stretching and challenging career move:
- Get yourself ready to act - think through your motivations, career wants & needs.
- Get your CV in shape, ready for action and in a fit share ‘in anger’ with hiring managers.
- Prepare for interview - focus upon what you have delivered and what you bring to a new role.
Of course if you are considering a move, a chat with a specialist is not a bad place to start…. do get in touch.
