On Thursday 6th February Berwick Partners, Odgers Interim and Odgers Berndtson hosted an inaugural Charities Drinks Reception and networking event. Despite London facing its second day of Tube strikes the event was well attended by over fifty Charity CEO’s, senior leaders and journalists covering the sector.
In the face of a number of ongoing challenges in the sector the mood was buoyant and optimistic for the year ahead.
Our guest speaker was Dan Corry, Chief Executive of New Philanthropy Capital - a consultancy and think tank dedicated to helping funders and charities achieve a greater impact. Always a lively, interesting and thought provoking speaker, Dan gave his views on the importance of Charities measuring their impact. He focussed on the importance of measuring outcome and the real tangible difference an activity or programme will have made on its beneficiary. Dan stressed that it was not good enough for a Charity to report that it had spent its money on a particular activity, but that it should be able to demonstrate the real difference that money has made. Given his experience working in the sector he offered some insight into how organisations can embark on this journey. Following his talk Dan answered a number of questions from the floor engendering an interesting debate between many of those present as the evening drew to a close.
We will continue to host a variety of events focussing on the Charity and Not for Profit sector throughout the year. For further information on future events or Charity and Not for Profit recruitment contact William Pringle.
