On 29th January, Berwick Partners launched the 2019 Emerging Leaders Programme at our group HQ in London. As an executive search firm we place hugely talented people into challenging environments within quality businesses. Time and time again the difference between a good or great hire comes down to the leadership abilities of the individual. It was this passion for bringing challenging minds together that shaped the Emerging Leaders Programme.  

At the heart of the Emerging Leaders Programme is the acknowledgement that raw leadership ability can be innate. The best and most effective leaders nurture these traits, through active self-development, reflection, and challenge from external sources. The opening cohort of 40 high-potential leaders are beginning an exciting yearlong programme of insight-led learning and personal development. The programme is designed to give direct interaction and active mentoring from exceptional business leaders, who bring proven experience in delivering market and business defining change, as well as displaying the ability to consistently evolve and remain at the forefront of their chosen field.

The opening session of the programme was delivered by Anthony Fletcher, CEO of Graze. Anthony spoke about lessons learned throughout his career journey from Innocent Smoothies into Graze, and its journey in becoming the UK’s number 1 health snack brand. This was followed by a generous Q&A session in which his principled, candid and irreverent approach to leadership, team engagement, customer focus and relentless delivery shone through.

From industry insights, the seminar shifted to a focus upon personal development. Rob Cross; an expert in performance and leadership, gave a compelling and interactive session focused upon ‘moving beyond purpose’ leading (and living) with greater authenticity, purpose and intention. This session brought the value of mentoring and active network development into sharp focus, both in terms of  ‘human experience’ and taking advantage of the ‘happy accidents’ that such personal investment often brings.
