Berwick Partners (an Odgers Berndtson company) were selected from a short-list of three possible Executive recruiters to support the NEC Group with identifying a new Human Resources Director. We were chosen because of our local presence, as we have a substantial Birmingham office, but also because we were able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the senior Human Resources market and the talent available nationally for the HR Director role. We also talked through any challenges we envisaged in order to successfully recruit the position.
Berwick Partners were very effective and timely in delivering a long-list of HR professionals which we reduced to a short list of just four. From that shortlist, two were taken to final interview with the Chief Executive of the NEC Group. Either candidate would have been suitable, however one candidate was able to demonstrate strategic thinking coupled with grounded, relevant hands-on experience.
We provided accurate reports on each HR Director candidate with thoughts on why they were suitable, but also insight on where they may fall short. The process ran very smoothly and the preferred candidate accepted the position, with references and qualification checks also being completed.
As a result of such a well executed recruitment assignment, the new HR Director at the NEC then mandated Berwick Partner with finding the right hire for the newly created position of Learning & Development Manager.
