Following the arrival of a new Supply Chain Director, the organisation – a global brewing - was committed to delivering a world-class S&OP Process as part of a wider global supply chain cost saving exercise. Having approached the market directly and unable to attract suitable candidates, Berwick Partners were asked to undertake a search for the Head of Sales & Operations Planning within the UK.
This newly created role would play a key part in ensuring the successful interpretation of the process within the sales, marketing, procurement and supply chain functions. They sought an individual that was familiar with the approach, ideally from within an FMCG organisation.
Berwick Partners spent valuable time with key stakeholders to understand the requirements of the role as well as the challenges that the business faced both internally and externally. Being familiar with the company and industry, we knew that whilst several CPG organisations have been using the S&OP tool for many years, the depth and integration of the process varied greatly, and we were able to share our understanding whilst guiding the client as to the structure of the S&OP processes, within similar blue chip organisations.
As we had prior knowledge of this type of role we understood that it is very rare for individuals to have a career purely focussed within S&OP and we were able educate the client to potential career backgrounds of suitable candidates, as well as highlighting salaries within similar companies. We were also able to identify early on in the process that a balance was required between the technical skills set and the prospective individual’s personal style of delivery.
The campaign was supported by accurate reports on shortlisted candidates highlighting areas of strengths and development needs. Due to the open and honest relationship that Berwick Partners formed with the client, we were able to deliver a successful candidate into a continually evolving function.
