Laser 2000 is a high growth value-added reseller, providing expertise and routes to market for the best photonics, optics, telecoms, and network product manufacturers around the world. Sectors served in the UK and the USA include Life Sciences, Telecoms, Aerospace and Defence, Energy, Healthcare and Education.

Laser 2000 has been at the forefront of optics and photonics industry evolution, actively involved in many world-changing technologies. For example, they were instrumentational in delivering the technology behind optical broadband since the first faltering steps of the roll-out of the internet in the 1990’s. They have also been at the forefront of providing optical technology for super-resolution and fluorescence microscopy, the tools that have revolutionised our understanding of the human genome.

To support growth plans Laser 2000 seek a Sales Director to join the business. You will:

• Coach, inspire and develop a growing sales function of c. 20 people this year.
• Develop future sales growth plans for new and existing markets, setting the strategy, and defining future resource requirements to ensure sales growth.
• Harness the inherent technical knowledge in the team, providing the processes and frameworks for success, and instilling a continuous improvement mindset.
• Set mutually agreed stretch sales targets, supporting the team to achieve them whilst also handling one or two of your own key accounts.
• Define, review & report sales performance at Board level.

You will be an established Senior Sales Manager or Sales Director with an understanding of the channel model, from a background in value-add reselling or manufactured product solution sales. You will have the following attributes:

• Expertise in a technical sales environment, with the credibility to lead a bright sales team of engineering and science graduates.
• Expert in coaching and developing sales personnel, identifying training needs and delivering the framework for success and progression.
• Able to drive both granular process improvement and strategic commercial direction.
• Familiarity with a comparable sales operation - consultative selling to a significant customer base who require expert advice and seamless supply of solutions.
• Fit with a supportive, collaborative, self-starting, and flexible culture.

Additional Details

• An excellent base salary, commission structure and benefits are on offer.
• Based in Huntingdon but flexible, with expectation to be on-site 2-3 days per week.
