The Role of Head of Commercial Finance

We are seeking a Head of Commercial Finance to join the Jewish Care team. The position will provide commercial support to the Director of Care, Housing & Hospitality and proactively manage commercial issues across these three business areas.

This is a new role to Jewish Care and forms a key part of the restructure programme of the Finance team. The Head of Commercial Finance will be instrumental in supporting the commercial wellbeing of our Care, Housing and Hospitality services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Introducing robust financial performance monitoring tools across Care, Housing & Hospitality to provide clear and meaningful insight
  • Ensuring financial information and data is understood by a wide range of key stakeholders (including trustees, home managers, directorate team), all of whom have different levels of financial literacy
  • Accountable for long-term planning (3 years), short-term budgeting (1 year) across the Care, Housing and Hospitality services and within year forecasting
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure a robust financial planning process
  • Leading the annual pricing process. This is a joint effort involving Marketing, Legal, Care and Finance and is a highly collaborative process

You

An experienced commercial finance professional, you will bring strong technical finance understanding along with an ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels. An understanding of the charity sector is desirable for the role.

Specific characteristics will include:

  • Robust post qualified experience (accountancy qualification or financial analysis qualification) in a commercial or semi-commercial environment, ideally within care, hospitality, hotels or related sectors
  • Skilled at providing meaningful insight into complex financial data and information
  • Ability to easily communicate complex financial information to a non-finance audience
  • Able to make complex data and messages easy to follow
  • Effective planner, both short and long term
