Operations Director

• A world-leading UK designer and manufacturer of high-integrity, safety-critical components and systems for global blue-chip customers in hydrogen energy, industrial gases, defence, and oil & gas. Listed on AIM, and operating through two manufacturing divisions and across four sites, the business has developed through acquisition, organic growth, and the provision of through-life integrity management services.

• With a highly regarded brand, and over a century’s industry knowledge and engineering expertise, this ambitious organisation has an incredibly exciting future ahead. They now seek an exceptional Operations Director to strengthen the leadership team, and enable the group to deliver its potential.

• Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a main Board member, the purpose of the role is to delight customers and stakeholders by establishing, maintaining and ensuring that production performance, as measured by OTD, Quality, Schedule Adherence, Production Forecast delivery (Load and Capacity) and Cost Efficiency, is achieved and maintained consistently across all operational sites.

• This is a leadership role in every sense: supporting the CEO and the senior management team in the strategic development of the organisation; setting and driving the organisational vision and operational strategy; hands-on mentoring, coaching and developing your management team; whilst creating a more modern and progressive engineering culture and environment.

• You will be an accomplished and highly experienced operations leader, as effective in being hands-on as in implementing strategy, with a track record of success within a specialist engineering environment. Ideally with a combined background of having worked in niche, privately-owned manufacturers, with the benefit of experience of larger blue-chip manufacturing organisations, you will be comfortable applying your knowledge of manufacturing best practice to a group that is going through considerable change and evolution, growth and restructuring.

• Educated to degree level in Engineering, and a Chartered Engineer, you will possess a background in engineering and manufacturing for major blue-chip OEM customers in the defence, energy, automotive or aerospace sectors. An experienced executive and company director, with a strong commercial background, you will have a proven capability in the effective leadership of multi-site manufacturing operations of up to 200 people, and extensive experience of modern methods and systems for progressive production planning and supply chain management.
