Managing Director, South West
£Excellent plus Package

Our client is an innovative privately owned organisation with specialised subsidiaries providing solutions to energy, science, defence and commercial markets. This growing, entrepreneurial Group develops, manufactures, sells and supports instruments and systems worldwide.

With a commitment to sustainable long-term growth and profitability, their strategy is to grow through both organic development of new products and services, and by targeted acquisitions. Synergistic and and/or disruptive technologies are a particular focus of any investment.

A new Managing Director is now required for one of the Group’s subsidiaries, a c.£5m organisation focused on the design and manufacture of complex engineering solutions for the maritime market. You will be at the forefront of developing the product portfolio and creating an independent sales capability, working with a mix of solution specifiers and end users.

Accountable to the Group Chief Operating Officer, you will:

  • Lead the creation and delivery of the strategic growth plan.

  • Drive change where it is required and ensure efficient use of resources.

  • Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Encourage a culture of safety first, innovation and excellence across the company.

  • Manage, develop, and support the Senior Management Team.

  • Focus on the Company’s core values and behavioural expectations to ensure a positive, dynamic, engaged culture.

  • Scrutinise the external business environment and update plans as appropriate.

The new Managing Director will be a dynamic self-starter, capable of operating independently with occasional input from the Group. Highly likely to be an engineering graduate, you will have had full P&L responsibility and arrive with established leadership, transformation, commercial and technical credentials. The business has the potential to double in size in the next five years and you will be at the helm during this exciting period of growth providing inspirational leadership.
