Director of Property - Shepherds Bush Housing Group

With an exciting strategy to deliver and to realise our forward ambitions we have created a new position, Director of Property to join the SBHG leadership team. 

The incoming Director of Property will lead, develop, and manage a high-performing, customer-focussed team to deliver a proactive maintenance and remediation approach for our properties (assets). This includes compliance to Landlord Health and Safety duties and forward maintenance, reinvestment, and cladding and fire remediation programmes. This role will also oversee the mobilisation of operational activities to meet recent building safety legislation changes. You will have responsibility for our service delivery, ensuring our customers are safe and happy in their homes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the delivery of the Active Asset Management strategy, including the setting of operational service and product standards.
  • Responsible for the mobilisation, delivery, monitoring and control of a 30-year Forward Maintenance Plan relating to our various property portfolios, including planned maintenance, cyclical and major works programmes (fire remedial, disrepair, and aids and adaptations works).
  • Accountable for the mobilisation, delivery, monitoring and control of a c.£30m cladding remediation programme, delivering it to the highest standards and in accordance with all relevant corporate governance and improvement plans.
  • Establishing, developing, and maintaining an appraisal system that will assess the existing use-value, open market value and the social value of property assets/portfolio.
  • Accountable for providing strategic direction in respect of asset related procurement and contract delivery function, ensuring all legal, best practice and organisational requirements are met.
  • Responsible for the management and performance of colleagues in delivering a comprehensive active asset management service which meets the corporate needs of SBHG and the expectations of our residents.
  • Optimising and maintaining accurate customer and property data, providing suitable IT system requirements for the storage and use of such data, and ensuring compliance with the use of these systems.
The Person
  • Degree level education or equivalent through relevant training/experience.
  • Substantial experience at senior management level within a property-related environment, managing large multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of Asset Management principles, including building forensics and survey, statutory and regulatory requirements, and a working knowledge of major works contracts.
  • A proven track record and experience of working across cladding projects.
  • Proven experience and understanding of the zero-carbon agenda.
  • Senior leadership experience with a strong knowledge and ability to work in a regulated environment.
