Mpac Group plc is a c. £90m UK headquartered global automation and packaging machinery business. They create automation ecosystems solutions that enhance complex manufacturing lines, helping businesses to adapt and grow. Listed on AIM, the group is growing both organically and through acquisition, serving a range of global blue-chip clients.

To support current growth aspirations, there is a desire to strengthen the existing leadership team by hiring a Development Director to work closely with the group Chief Executive. You will be a key player in the Executive Team with responsibilities that include:

  • Developing business cases for investment in support of profitable growth objectives.

  • Managing M&A projects, from identification of potential targets, through to investment planning, due diligence, purchase and successful integration (markets, people, process, technology).

  • Acting as an internal consultant, identifying current and potential synergies across the group, driving operational improvements, innovation and market expansion.

  • Working with local leadership to drive the vision and road map for future growth, thinking laterally and championing an environment of continuous improvement to ensure return on investment.

  • Identifying any skills and capability gaps, implementing appropriate strategies to develop and enhance ‘best in class’ teams, systems (ERP/engineering) and processes to the benefit of business performance.

  • Driving transformation, change management, challenging appropriately to ensure the organisation is fit for future purpose.

The successful candidate will be a self-starting, collaborative, progressive individual who thrives in a role where you are required to act autonomously and make decisions. The ability to lead, inspire and motivate is essential, together with the capacity to understand underlying business issues. Able to deliver at both strategic and operational level, you will be agile and humble with the personal credibility to influence key stakeholders.

There is genuine open mindedness on what you have already done to build your career. You are likely to be well educated with an industry background that comes from bespoke capital equipment manufacturing, or other B2B solution providers. Equally you could have developed your skills in a relevant client, a consultancy, or service provider and be seeking a change. The right attitude and aptitude will be prioritised over a directly relevant customised machinery background. Whatever your previous experience, it is vital that you possess the drive and leadership qualities to genuinely own the remit you take on.

You will have:

  • Experience in a senior operational, commercial, consulting, project or technical leadership role with responsibility for driving strategy, making decisions and delivering on objectives on an international basis. P&L accountability and previous M&A involvement are core attributes required.

  • Previous history of working in, or with, fast paced manufacturing businesses of similar or greater scale. – The important aspect here is experience an international group, and leadership responsibility in different cultural settings.

  • Passion for continuous improvement, innovation and creativity, always operating with health & safety, future sustainability and commercial success in mind.

Additional Details

There will be a significant travel (>50%) in the role to operational sites in the UK and abroad. Significant international trips are likely, particularly when assessing acquisition targets. A home location in the North or Midlands is optimum.

An excellent base salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits are on offer.
