Director Marketing, Recruitment and Communications
Staffordshire University
Competitive with benefits
Stoke on Trent

Staffordshire University changes lives. As the “connected University” we link the needs of our students to business and society, delivering outstanding employability and genuine impact within communities. We are a thriving modern Institution awarded Gold in the 2019 Teaching Excellence Framework. Whilst our main campus is in Stoke on Trent, we have further centres of excellence in London, Stafford and Shrewsbury and overall we host 21,000 students from over 90 countries. We are proud to be ranked within the top 40 UK Universities by the Guardian League Table 2020 and also to be in the Sunday Times Good University Guide top 10 for teaching quality in both 2018 and 2019.

As Director of Marketing, Recruitment and Communications you’ll play a critical leadership role at this exciting time in helping to shape our ambitious future. Working collaboratively across the University, you’ll create and deliver a strong brand profile for us as the ‘connected university’ and as the pioneer of digital developments. You will raise our profile and develop deeper connections as a civic university with our stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally.

Furthermore, you will create a stronger brand profile for us within the higher education marketplace, continuing to build upon our increased growth in student numbers over the last few years, in our undergraduate, post graduate and apprenticeship provision, in our home, EU and international markets, to increase our market share.

Internally, you will transform the way we communicate with each other, redeveloping and delivering a step change in our internal communications, so that we are more connected as we deliver these ambitions.

With substantial and proven experience of developing and delivering innovation and results across this broad portfolio, you’ll be a digital pioneer, with boundless creativity, flair and passion for demonstrating impact. An understanding of the UK Higher Education sector would be helpful, but by no means essential.

Staffordshire University celebrates diversity and promotes equality and inclusion amongst its staff and students. As such, it welcomes applications from all, regardless of personal characteristics or background. It particularly welcomes applications from Women and Black and Asian Minority Ethnic candidates as they are under-represented within the University at a senior level.

Closing date for applications: Friday 10th April at noon.

Final Panel Date – Thursday 14th May 2020
