Chief Financial Officer
Cambridge Assessment
Competitive Package, Cambridge

Cambridge Assessment is a world-leading provider of academic and testing qualifications and testing services. It supports schools, teachers and governments in designing and delivering globally recognised and robust exams and tests to over eight million learners in 170 countries.

As a department of the University of Cambridge, Cambridge Assessment is at the forefront of education, and has been since 1858. The organisation is run in a business-like way, generating nearly £0.5bn of revenues each year and a healthy surplus that is reinvested to further the University’s mission.

Cambridge Assessment has bold ambitions for the future, and is working alongside Cambridge University Press to create new digital propositions for learners that combine content and assessment. The organisation is at the beginning of a programme of strategic, cultural and technological change, driven by a corporate board that has largely been recently appointed.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a pivotal leadership role and will serve as a key strategic business partner and advisor, supporting transformation across the organisation. Through an understanding of Cambridge Assessment, its international reach, and the areas in which it operates, the ideal candidate will enable the identification, shaping and delivery of the business strategy, and bring organisational focus and commitment to long-term value creation for Cambridge Assessment and the wider Cambridge organisation.

The candidate will need to combine strong operational and technical experience, have well-developed commercial and strategic skills, and will work closely with the Group Chief Executive and Board, both from an internal and external perspective.

The business is on an exciting journey, and a world-class CFO is critical to the next stage in its evolution.
