Dementia Carers Count, formerly known as the Royal Surgical Aid Society, was established following the charity’s 150th anniversary when the decision was taken to focus on carers of people with dementia, who often receive little support at a time in their life when it can be most needed.
At the heart of our vision is the development of the Dementia Carers Centre – the first of its kind, it will be the ‘home’ of dementia carers where they can find support, information and understanding. The new state of the art Centre will also be the hub for research in partnership with the Association for Dementia Services.
We are looking for a Director of Services who will take us on this next stage of our journey as we seek to build our reputation as the ‘go to’ place for dementia carers and any members of the public, the media and policy developer wanting to know the experiences, needs and desired outcomes of dementia carers. This is a unique role for an entrepreneurial senior leader who will have the opportunity to join the charity at an exciting time as we work towards our new strategic direction.
• Relevant experience gained in the public, not-for-profit or private sectors
• Clinical or social knowledge of dementia and/or carers needs
• Experience of or demonstrable ability to operate at Board level
• Track record of developing new and innovative services
• Financially and commercially literate
• Business planning and development experience
