Investment Director - Locate in Kent

The Role

Kent has much to offer; with picturesque neighbourhoods, beautiful countryside and coastline, thriving businesses and a whole host of available leisure activities, it is a great place to live and work.

Kent is also an expanding County with a diverse and resilient economic base and strengths in growing sectors. Many exciting new regeneration and economic development projects are underway which will enhance its housing, retail outlets, commercial opportunities and infrastructure - creating new homes, new jobs and ensuring continued economic prosperity.

Locate in Kent fulfils a unique and critical role in the economic growth and performance of Kent and Medway. We work to attract inward investment into Kent by promoting the County as a leading European business location as well as supporting existing local business to fulfil their potential growth. Locate in Kent has identified 4 priority sectors: Creative & Digital, Food & Drink, Life Sciences and Manufacturing. The Investment Director will work closely to develop and implement a strategy to target companies in these sectors.

We therefore provide a dynamic, fascinating and exciting professional landscape in which to work. We now wish to appoint a talented, innovative, driven and commercially minded individual as our Investment Director, responsible for ensuring Kent continues to flourish economically.

As Investment Director you will take a leading role in attracting and retaining investment and employment opportunities into Kent from potential investors and our existing businesses.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of engaging with, developing and managing business relationships, with a positive and proactive approach, and the ability to build influential relationships and establish trust with key decision makers.

This is a fast paced role, and candidates will need to be able to react to incoming enquiries whilst proactively seeking new investment opportunities to secure business rate growth and job creation targets.

Recent experience of delivering business and/or investment support or business development activity is essential, as is knowledge of the business services and intermediary landscape. Ideally candidates will also have experience of identifying market opportunities for businesses and will have a good knowledge of the economy and geography of Kent and the South East.

We are truly open-minded about the successful candidate’s background; you may be working in the Public sector within an economic development or inward investment role or in the private sector in an advisory or consultancy setting. What is critical, however, is that you have a passion for place-making and bring with you creativity and an outstanding track record of success in delivering complex programmes and initiatives.

For an informal and confidential discussion, please speak with our advisors at Berwick Partners; Marek Dobrowolski on 0121 654 5912 and Ruth Hernandez Turner on 0121 654 5936.
