With heritage dating back to 1872, Aberystwyth University is a unique institution located on the beautiful West Wales coast. The Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) is an internationally renowned teaching and research centre. Its focus upon food security, bioenergy, sustainability and climate change enables it to produce award-winning research with genuine impact, as well as the provision of outstanding, accredited teaching to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is in receipt of funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Welsh Government, DEFRA and the European Union and it is home to the National Plant Phenomics Centre as well as being part of the BEACON Centre of Excellence for Biorefining, which is a Wales-based academic partnership worth over £20 million.
