Rutland is a county with big plans. We want to make Rutland more vibrant, prosperous, and sustainable. This is all about empowering economic growth so Rutland’s businesses and communities truly flourish.
Like many authorities, we need to operate more commercially, be more innovative and respond to new initiatives quicker – all for the greater good for the community of Rutland. We currently have an unprecedented scale of change and new projects and developments that will make a significant contribution to our vision for the county.
Amongst other projects, we are currently consulting on a major regeneration programme for St George’s Barracks, a multi-million pound project of a scale not undertaken by the Council in its history. The current proposal is to deliver up to 3,000 homes, a commercial zone for business, green space and areas for leisure and recreation - all this will be supported by a new infrastructure and public services.
There has never been a more dynamic period of place making in the county and that is why we’re looking for an inspirational individual to lead our Places Directorate and provide strategic leadership and operational responsibility for an exciting and wide portfolio of development and delivery services across the county.
As our new Director you will be at the forefront of creating, shaping and leading the successful physical and socio-economic future for Rutland, providing strategic advice to elected members and the Chief Executive on all matters relating to place.
In Rutland, you will find a dynamic professional landscape, surrounded by like-minded and talented people. This role will require strategic leadership and an innovative approach to ensuring that the council makes the most of its assets and infrastructure, whilst making commercially sound investments and interventions that will act as a catalyst for future growth.
In this vital role you will be a visible champion for inclusive growth, looking to improve our residents’ quality of life and wellbeing. An excellent communicator, you’ll motivate your high performing team by making sure they’re engaged and developed.
You will be passionate about place making and regeneration and your experience; will likely include a previous track record in leading and managing a breadth of Place services and of contributing to major capital and economic growth programmes.
We are keen to attract the best talent from the public and private sectors and so it’s your commercial acumen and leadership skills that we are interested in and that will set you apart. Join us, and see your powerful ideas create a long-lasting legacy at Rutland County Council.
For an informal and confidential discussion, please speak with our advisors at Berwick Partners; Marek Dobrowolski on 0121 654 5912 or Katherine O'Donnell on 0121 654 5901.
