This is a unique opportunity to join a newly launched procurement ‘Centre of Excellence’ providing the opportunity to make a real difference to the way the NHS procures its services and supplies.
SCCL are looking for a Head of Logistics who will lead all delivery activity for the Logistics Service Provider to support the strategic objective of increasing market share through the NHS Supply Chain model to in excess of 80% (annual sales of c. £4.56bn) and delivering savings to the NHS of £600m.
Leading a team of logistics and contract management professionals, the post holder will ensure the delivery of the logistics operations for the NHS Supply Chain and other supply contracts, across multiple Service Providers. The NHS Supply Chain operation delivers products and services to customers across the NHS.
The post holder is responsible for leading the Logistics Service Provider in the transformation of the logistics operation to meet the requirements of market share growth and the customer base. This may include changes to current network infrastructure, systems and supply channels, all of which requires delivery without compromise to customer service.
There are a number of other critical supplier contracts for healthcare related services which are managed by the Supply Chain team. The post holder is accountable for the delivery of all the logistics elements across multiple Service Providers.
As part of the Senior Leadership team of the Supply Chain function, the Head of Logistics will support the Director of Supply Chain in shaping the direction of the function and ensuring that it delivers on its strategic requirements and meets the critical logistics needs of the NHS customer. The candidate will be an experienced senior leader in the logistics and supply chain field with extensive experience of managing both teams and service providers. We are looking for a Logistics professional (CILT qualified / member) with a proven track record of managing Logistics Service Provider(s) to deliver their Key Performance Indicator targets and effectively manage change The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead and develop a team and a proven ability to influence strategic thinking of the executive management.
