Investment and Commercial Activities Director
West Midlands Combined Authority
Competitive + excellent benefits

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority building a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands.

We are 18 local authorities and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands and its locally elected politicians, who know this region best.

This is an exciting time for the West Midlands. The Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350 million housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

We are now looking for an individual to give strategic leadership to the development and delivery of an investment strategy for the Combined Authority that combines innovative approaches to secure investment with an application of best practice investment models to ensure support.

As Investment and Commercial Activities Director you will take responsibility for, and lead, the delivery of the Combined Authority Investment Strategy and ensure the Combined Authority £8billion portfolio of investments attracts investment to enable delivery of programmes.

The Director will provide strategic commercial leadership across key Combined Authority activities, including business case development, stakeholder and commercial management of contracts and investment sourcing activities across existing and new investable opportunities.

We are open to different sector experience – you may well be working within the investment or development sector or in financial services.

Above all, however, you will have a strategic understanding and depth of experience of leading significant strategic developments and investments, and managing complex projects.

We are committed to equality of opportunity in service provision and employment. Our recruitment policies, procedures and practices enable all applicants to be considered on merit and ability to do the job. We will make reasonable adjustments, in line with the Equality Act, for disabled applicants if these are needed. We are committed to developing an organisation that is representative of the diverse communities we serve and encourage applications from women who are under-represented at this level of seniority.

For an informal and confidential discussion, please speak with our advisors at Berwick Partners; Marek Dobrowolski on 0121 654 5912 or Ruth Hernandez Turner on 0121 654 5936.

Closing date for applications: Friday 23rd November 2018.
