innogy have a wonderful opportunity to join their business in the newly created role of Disruptive Procurement Champion. This follows an assessment of their corporate and project-based procurement operations undertaken by A.T.Kearney about 18 months ago. This assessment identified the need to bring on-board external expertise to challenge existing practices and relationships both internally and externally.
The role of Disruptive Procurement Champion has been created to focus on the development of innogy's Offshore business, based out of their Swindon facility. The successful candidate will be tasked with bringing a best practice procurement approach, providing strong supplier relationship management and development expertise. The position reports into Mike Magee, Head of Project Procurement RWETI & innogy, who in turn reports to Holger Himmel, CFO innogy Renewables, with the support of the board and a mandate from the CFO, this represents a fantastic opportunity to drive lasting transformational change within this dynamic and growing business.
The Disruptive Procurement Champion – Offshore Wind will focus on supplier/market developments and will drive change in their own area of expertise to drive best in class performance. Mandated by the CFO the Disruptive Procurement Champion will co-lead the segment along with the Project Procurement Business Partner – Offshore Wind.
The DPC will be adept at handling complexity, innovation and pace and will drive change through steering business transformation within own area of responsibility and have the gravitas to influence change throughout the offshore wind segment. The post holder will leverage digital transformation to inform leading-edge supply chain solutions required to deliver best in class business outcomes and to enable data intelligence to take an integral role in decision making going forward.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to drive forward significant change within the supply base and internally. While the role will be a standalone position, it will work heavily within a Matrix structured organisation and will require exceptional interpersonal, influencing and relationship management skills; innogy are not simply looking for a Project Procurement Manager or a conventional Category Manager.
The role will be based out of their UK headquarters in Swindon. The position will also necessitate significant travel within Europe, and to new emerging markets in the US, Asia and Australasia.
While they would welcome someone with experience gained in the energy or renewables sector, they are keen to attract an individual with a strong industry best practice bringing with them substantial experience of transformational change, supplier development and SRM experience. As a result, they are eager to attract candidates from various sectors including, but not limited to, the oil and gas, utilities, fmcg and retail sectors.
• An experienced executive with experience and a proven track record of change management and delivering results within complex and diverse organisations who possesses high social competence and motivational leadership style
• 5 to 10 years of project procurement experience in industry with some of that time preferably gained outside of renewables onshore / offshore wind environment which will enable the post holder to bring a diverse and innovative mind set to the business
• Is not burdened by legacy thinking and has a high degree of open-mindedness, ability to work under pressure, to lead and drive change and to demonstrate a creative and dynamic approach to problem-solving
• Distinct skill to win people over and influence their thinking and to develop employees and maintain relationships where constructive disruptive dialogue is accepted and effective
• Preferably multi-lingual and with a very good command of the English language
