De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally-minded institution with a relentless focus on delivering high-quality teaching and learning, relevant research and a sector-leading student experience. We are a culturally rich university with a strong commitment to the public good. We strive to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment where all staff and students can thrive.
Our Gold award in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is testament to the consistently outstanding teaching and learning on offer at DMU, and the extraordinary impact this has on our students. We are proud of our journey so far but not complacent about the future and, as such, we wish to make a further senior appointment within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities.
Under the leadership of Professor Alison Honour, our new Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) and Dean, the faculty is one of the UK’s leading Higher Education providers across a range of creative disciplines. Housed across the state-of-the-art Vijay Patel Building, the Performing Arts Centre for Excellence and Clephan Building, the faculty is home to more than 5,000 students and 300 members of staff.
The post of Deputy Dean offers an exceptional individual the opportunity to provide leadership, vision and strategy in support of the full range of teaching, research and commercial activities across the faculty. As a key member of the faculty executive team, who deputises for the PVC Dean as required, you will lead a cross-faculty portfolio with an emphasis on change management, external collaboration and entrepreneurial activity.
We are seeking to appoint an individual whose ambition matches ours. With a strong track record in academic leadership, you will have a keen appreciation of the current trends within the sector and the managerial wherewithal to span the exciting range of duties that this role entails. Your substantive background will be in one of the disciplines represented within the faculty, yet you will have the interest and empathy to be credible across all disciplines. Finally, you will share DMU’s passion to provide outstanding and inclusive outcomes for all of its students and staff.
Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, you may be eligible for professorial status.
