The Business

A globally renowned food business that owns a number of market-leading and much-loved brands is looking to appoint a high-calibre Category Controller to instil a best-in-class customer approach and drive tangible results. Already firmly established with a global turnover of over £19bn, the business continues to deliver highly-impressive growth credentials, with an increase of over 2% in the last financial quarter.

The Role

This role will lead the customer category team, ensuring that the business’ category development capability secures category partner status with every customer.

Unlike less category centric FMCG businesses, the Category Development function has 2 core focuses – internal, data-led category development and external, customer-led category development. Whilst data experience is required, this role is very much an externally focused role which requires the individual to be the ultimate customer expert, building partnerships that align to the overall UK Trading Strategy.

The appointed individual will be responsible for all customers, across all categories – a key strategic role within the business.

The Candidate

The business is looking to appoint an influential and proactive senior category individual, with a particular strength in shaping relationships with key customers. This is a key strategic role within the UK business, driving the category agenda with all customers, selling winning strategies.

Required Experience:

• 10 years FMCG experience.

• Experience of working with Top 3 Grocery customers.

• Experience of Impulse.

• Experience of Category Development, Key Accounts & Insight.

• People Leadership experience.

• Proven track record of delivering Growth through Category Leadership coupled with significant Shopper & Category Experience.

Extensive insight, analytical and strategic skills coupled with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
