The Business

A globally renowned food business that owns a number of market-leading and much-loved brands is looking to appoint a high-calibre Category Director to instil a best-in-class category approach and drive tangible results. Already firmly established with a global turnover of over £19bn, the business continues to deliver highly-impressive growth credentials, with an increase of over 2% in the last financial quarter.

The Role

The Category Director will lead the Strategy, Category and Operations functions for the UK business and will be fully responsible for developing and leading the internal category agenda to influence and create compelling and growth orientated strategies and plans to drive growth in the categories. Developing and leading the external growth agenda via thought leadership with their Customers will be an integral part of the role, alongside taking accountability for best in class shopper activation.

The Director will also be responsible for ensuring that the insights, analytical and category operation functions deliver the right tools and compelling insights for the UK business, as well as leading, motivating and developing the team.

The Candidate

The business is looking to appoint a highly solution-oriented individual, who brings forth gravitas and a resilient approach. The role will be predominantly internally focused and therefore requires an individual with an aptitude for navigating a large, matrixed business and building team ‘buy-in’.

Required Experience:

• 10+ years FMCG experience.

• Experience of Grocery Multiples, Convenience and Online.

• Impulse Category experience.

• Key Account, Category Development & Insight experience.

• People Leadership, including 3rd line management.

• Proven track record of delivering growth through creating category visions, strategies & plans.
