Dean of the School of Engineering
London South Bank University
Competitive Salary

London South Bank University (LSBU) has a proud history of highly applied teaching and research that stretches back over 125 years. Under the leadership of Professor David Phoenix, the institution is thriving amidst the changes in UK Higher Education, and has adopted a creative and entrepreneurial approach to further developing its enviable position in the market. LSBU’s students have always received an exceptional learning experience that equips them well to enter the world of work, yet further investment in the estate and broader infrastructure will even better enhance the Institution’s reputation as a leader in its field.

The School of Engineering provides teaching and research across a range of sub-disciplines, structured within four Divisions: Chemical & Petroleum Engineering; Computer Science & Informatics; Electrical & Electronic Engineering; and Mechanical Engineering & Design. Research has been reinvigorated through the University’s support, and via a thriving partnership with The Welding Institute (TWI), with whom we have multi-million pound projects focusing on robotics and new materials. Improving NSS scores, accredited courses and good facilities are all testament to the quality of the provision within the School, for which a range of new initiatives give an indication of the opportunities for the new Dean.

The post of Dean provides dynamic academic and operational leadership to the School of Engineering. With a strong personal track record and credibility in a relevant area of academic endeavour, she or he will have the managerial and strategic ability to develop the School even further beyond its current position. Passionate about the student experience and furthering applied research, an aptitude for leading across a diverse range of subjects will be critical, as will enthusiasm for making a significant contribution to LSBU’s Senior Management Group more broadly.
