The LEP geography spans nine local authority boundaries: Birmingham, Solihull, East Staffordshire, Cannock Chase, Lichfield, Tamworth, Redditch, Bromsgrove and Wyre Forest. This geography comprises a population of nearly 2 million people, an estimated 848,000 jobs, and an economy worth £44.5 billion.
Since their formation, they have made significant progress - creating the UK’s largest city centre Enterprise Zone to underpin the creation of 40,000 new jobs; negotiating with Government to strike a City Deal which helps to create a revolutionary new system of fund management to invest and aggregate £1.5 billion of public funds; supporting investment into key sectors and creating a new Skills for Growth Compact to build best in-class skills that link with real world work opportunities.
As our region enters an exciting new phase in its history, the LEP is looking to appoint a new voluntary Chair who will play a critical role in shaping the future of our area. The role is professionally challenging and rewarding. It is high profile and will call on you to engage successfully with fellow industry leaders, international investors, government ministers and local authority leaders. To enable you to do this you will be supported by a talented team and a broad range of committed partners.
