Why Work for Us?

Amy Parkinson, Consultant in the Financial Leadership Practice, explains why she chose to join Berwick Partners earlier this year.

What attracted you to a career with Berwick Partners?
Berwick Partners has an excellent and unique business proposition.  It is the only business I saw that was able to credibly address our clients’ biggest problems- attracting future leadership talent.  By working as part of the Odgers Berndtson family with the calibre of the network available to us and operating with the same level of quality, diligence and expertise we are able to genuinely partner with our clients and deliver exceptional candidates.  It may sound trite but I was genuinely excited to be seen as a real advisor to my clients rather than a necessary evil.

What appealed / caught your attention whilst going through the interview process?
I met with some hugely inspirational people that were happy and successful in their roles.  I felt I would be supported by the business and developed as I transitioned into the world of Executive Search.  Most importantly I felt that the culture would suit me.  I wanted to do a great job and be successful, not be focussed on hitting operational KPI’s.  I felt that Berwick would give me the freedom to operate and deliver in the way that I wanted to.

What has been the most surprising thing that you hadn’t expected when you arrived?
Everything that I was promised was actually delivered!   After eleven years in this industry you can become a tad cynical so it was refreshing when I was told to take my time, learn and really think about how I wanted to approach things.  Oh and having an amazing PA.  She makes me so much more efficient!

How is it different from your previous place of employment?
I’d progressed well in my last employer, learnt a lot and worked with some great people. However, I was ready for a change.  I wanted more freedom, to be seen as a trusted advisor and to know that what I was doing would make a difference to my clients.   By joining Berwick I’ve been able to do that.

Three words to describe the culture?
Integrity, Maturity, Trusted.

Edward Ellis, Energy and Manufacturing specialist, explains why he chose to join Berwick Partners earlier this year.

What attracted you to a career with Berwick Partners?
I was at a cross roads in my career and was looking to take a permanent move into an established and reputable search firm. Berwick Partners offered me that opportunity.

What appealed / caught your attention whilst going through the interview process?
The maturity and calibre of individuals that I met was a real step up. It gave me a solid understanding to what the culture and working environment would be like.

What has been the most surprising thing that you hadn’t expected when you arrived?
The senior support from the Partners and Principals was a pleasant surprise. It was clearly genuine and very thorough.

How is it different from your previous place of employment?
The autonomy to get on a do your job and be far more efficient and thus effective.

Three words to describe the culture?
Supportive, credible and client focussed.
